I had a vlog scene for a client and they wanted a car scene with 4 people taking. They wanted minimum setup to keep things as natural as possible. When I saw this unit, I thought sure why not. Hahaha. It actually worked out perfectly. The receiver is huge, but it was easy to monitor the audio levels coming in from all 4 transmitters. The way it breaks it down is the transmitters units breaks into 2 shared channels when it goes into my camera. So unit A and C went to channel 1, and unit B and D went to channel 2. All units when they first go to the receiver, you can adjust levels independently to make sure everything sounds good. There’s even an audio jack on the receiver to hear the levels from each unit. Once it leaves the receiver and goes to whatever camera you are recording in, it splits the 4 channels into pairs and into 2 channels. The sound quality was pretty good. But like any audio, you always should do some post work to clean up, and by doing so I felt that the audio I got from each unit turned out great! So far I’ve been using these for group settings in cars mostly. I think it’s a great solution for a cheap and useful solution to mixing multiple labs to one unit. It all came organized in a bug carrying case, all cables needed to go into a phone or camera comes with it, and it comes with a hard lav line and a wind muff if you choose to use the mic that’s already on top of each transmitter unit. Pairing is pretty much automatic and instant when you turn both units on. All the information is located on the small well lit LED screens on both units, simple and to the point. The included dead cat snaps right in the mic on top of the transmitter with no hassle. You can use this system with a lav of your choice if you want that option but the audio this unit produces without one will easily do the job hands down. Once you set the levels correctly depending on the situation you are filming you are going to be presented with some amazing professional audio. In closing this mic system is a great buy with audio that is amazingly good. You pretty much have a professional audio recording kit in a small box. I filmed 2 podcasts the past 2 weeks and I used the X6Q for all my audio. This kit made everything so much easier than it is usually for me. I was able to mic everybody up in under 4 minutes and the audio came out flawless and hiss free. This is a must have for anyone who shoots short films, weddings, podcasts and other similar projects.If you are looking for a wireless microphone system that will work with practically any device then this is the one to buy. Setup was very easy, I just charged with the included cable and turned them on and they were already paired. The display looks a bit complicated but it really tells you all the relevant information you need. I tried this with an iPhone, Android phone with a USB C input, and a DSLR with a dedicated cable. All worked flawlessly with very good quality sound. With my Samsung phone I did have to download a different camera app since the included Samsung app does not allow external microphones but once this was done it worked perfectly. The best part is that the sound quality was excellent on both microphones. I tried this with my son in one room and my wife in a different room and both signals were recorded on my phone as if they were standing next to me.The best part is that all possible accessories are included. Lavalier microphones, adapters, and even a storage case for everything. Anyone who needs a multi- mic external microphone that can be used on all platforms will not be disappointed with this setup.
